A police case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): A 17-year-old polytechnic student has been identified as the driver in a tragic accident that resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to nine others in the densely populated Ghazipur market area of east Delhi. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the vehicle, a Hyundai Aura, lost control and crashed into several shops in the bustling weekly market, causing chaos and distress among shoppers and vendors.

Sita Devi, 22, was pronounced dead following the accident. Another teenager, who was in the car at the time, fled the scene but is currently sought by the police. The driver, now in police custody, faces legal proceedings for his actions.

Eyewitness accounts, corroborated by CCTV footage, revealed the driver attempting to escape the crash site before being apprehended by local residents. The mob, fueled by anger and grief, damaged the car, attempting to break its doors and eventually overturning the vehicle in a display of vigilante justice before police intervention.

The vehicle, typically operated as part of an online taxi service, is regularly driven by an individual named Neeraj, who, along with the car owner Rajkumar, has been summoned for further investigation. Authorities are probing how the minors gained access to the car and the circumstances leading up to the unfortunate event.

A police case has been registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to rash driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder, signaling a stern legal response to the tragic occurrence that has once again highlighted concerns over underage driving and road safety in bustling market areas.
