This year, the exercise will see equal participation from both forces, with 45 personnel from the Indian Army’s Gorkha Rifles and the Seychelles Defence Forces.

The primary goal of “Exercise Lamitiye 2024” is to bolster interoperability in conducting Sub-conventional Operations within Semi-Urban environments, in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peace Keeping Operations. This initiative is aimed at enhancing bilateral military relations, sharing expertise, and adopting best practices through a collaborative approach.

Participants from both sides will engage in joint training sessions, involving planning and executing tactical drills designed to neutralize potential threats in semi-urban settings. These exercises will not only utilize but also highlight the capabilities of new-generation equipment and technology. The 10-day program is structured to include Field Training Exercises, combat strategy discussions, lectures, and demonstrations, culminating in a two-day Validation Exercise.

“Exercise Lamitiye 2024” is expected to significantly contribute to the development of mutual understanding and joint operational capabilities among the troops of both armies. Moreover, this joint venture is set to strengthen the collaborative partnership between India and Seychelles, promoting an exchange of skills, experiences, and best practices, thereby enhancing peacekeeping operations effectiveness.
