Agency(Jalna, Maharashtra): The ongoing hunger strike by Shivba Sanghatana chief Manoj Jarange-Patil has led to a critical decline in his health, prompting the Bombay High Court to order immediate medical attention. On the sixth day of his hunger strike, Jarange-Patil’s condition worsened, leading to spontaneous protests and isolated incidents of violence across Maharashtra.

Medical professionals reached the protest site in Antaravali-Sarati village on Thursday evening, where Jarange-Patil is expected to receive proper medical care or be transferred to a hospital. His health deteriorated significantly on Wednesday, with blood oozing from his nose, and despite being put on saline, he removed it, complaining of stomach pains.

On Thursday, Jarange-Patil’s physical condition visibly worsened, as he struggled to sit up and collapsed multiple times. He spent most of the day lying on a mattress at the protest venue. His weakened state and the strain of the hunger strike have led to heightened concern among his supporters, who have been vigilantly attending to him around the clock.

The protest has garnered attention across the state, with shutdowns and roadblocks reported in various districts. The Maharashtra government has acknowledged the demand for Maratha quotas and scheduled a Special Session of the Legislature on February 20, ahead of the Budget Session on February 26.

In response to his family’s and supporters’ pleas, Jarange-Patil sipped some water in the evening but again appeared to collapse. His tweets over the last 24 hours have conveyed a resolve to continue the strike, stating he is prepared to sacrifice his life for the Maratha cause and warning of severe repercussions if his demands are not met.

Local officials are closely monitoring Jarange-Patil’s health situation and the potential security implications in the region due to the ongoing protest and his deteriorating health condition.
