Ayodhya (Agency): Saints in Ayodhya are calling for a ban on the film ‘Adipurush’ due to their objections to its dialogues and portrayal of characters.
This is the second time within a year that the saints have expressed their concerns about the film. Last October, they raised objections to the “distortion” seen in the film’s trailer.
The saints claim that the film misrepresents the characters of the Ramayana and portrays Hindu deities in a “distorted” manner. They specifically point out the depiction of Hanuman with a beard but without a mustache, which goes against their traditional understanding.
Acharya Satyendra Das, the head priest of Ram Janmabhoomi, stated that despite their previous protests, the filmmakers continue to misrepresent the characters and disrespect Hindu deities. He labeled the film’s dialogues as shameful and called for an immediate ban.
According to Das, “Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman, as well as Ravana, have been presented in a totally different manner. It depicts our deities in a completely different form compared to what we have read and known so far.”
Raju Das, the priest of Hanuman Garhi temple, echoed the demand for a ban, expressing his belief that Bollywood is determined to distort the Hindu religion. He cited ‘Adipurush’ as an example of how the film industry shows little regard for Hindu sentiments.
The Mani Ram Das Chhavni Peeth, the influential body of Ayodhya saints, also supports the call for a ban on the movie.
The demand for a ban on ‘Adipurush’ reflects the concerns of Ayodhya saints regarding the misrepresentation of Hindu religious figures in the film. Their objection emphasizes the need for respectful portrayal and accurate depiction of characters from Hindu mythology.
