Rajnath Singh Clarifies on CAA, Assures No Loss of Citizenship for Muslims

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasizes that no Muslim in India will lose citizenship due to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, dismissing opposition-induced fears and reaffirming BJP's commitment to nation-building beyond caste and religion.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): In a decisive statement during an election rally in Ghaziabad, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed concerns surrounding the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), ensuring that no Muslim residing in India would be deprived of their citizenship. This clarification comes amidst widespread apprehension among Muslim communities, fueled by opposition parties regarding the implications of the CAA.

Singh, campaigning for the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Atul Garg, articulated the party’s stance of transcending caste, creed, and religion to focus on the broader objective of nation-building. He recounted the legislative journey of the CAA, highlighting its intent to facilitate citizenship for non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan before December 31, 2014. Despite initial hurdles in the Rajya Sabha, the Act eventually garnered approval in both Houses under the stewardship of Amit Shah, the then Home Minister.

Dispelling the fears instigated by opposition narratives, Singh assured Muslim communities of their secured citizenship status within India, invoking the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family) to underscore the BJP’s inclusive approach to governance.

Singh further reminded the electorate of the BJP’s consistent delivery on manifesto promises, citing the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the abolition of triple talaq as key achievements. These actions, according to Singh, reflect the party’s commitment to justice and equality, transcending religious lines to uphold the dignity and rights of women across communities.

By emphasizing the BJP’s record of fulfilling electoral promises and its principled stance on inclusive governance, Singh’s address sought to reassure all citizens of their place within India’s diverse societal fabric. As Ghaziabad prepares to vote on April 26, Singh’s message aims to counteract opposition narratives and solidify the BJP’s image as a party committed to the nation’s unified progress.
