Agency(Ahmedabad): Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide journey, Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, progresses into Gujarat on Thursday from Rajasthan. Despite recent departures of key state leaders to BJP, the yatra continues its course.

Former state Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia and ex-working president Ambarish Der joined BJP on Tuesday, followed by party MLA Arvind Ladani’s resignation, opting to join the ruling party.

Spanning 6,700 kilometers from Manipur to Mumbai, the yatra traverses over 400 kilometers in Gujarat over four days before concluding in Maharashtra. It commences its Gujarat leg with homage to Govind Guru, a tribal freedom fighter, at Kamboi Dham in Jhalod taluka.

Routing through seven tribal-populated districts, including Dahod, Panchmahal, and Surat, the yatra aims to engage with the masses. Gandhi is scheduled to address six public meetings, 27 corner meetings, and receive support at over 70 locations.

Additionally, Gandhi plans temple visits, including Pavagadh temple and Harsiddhi Mataji temple, and intends to mark Maha Shivratri by offering prayers to Lord Shiva on March 8. He concludes the Gujarat leg by paying respects at Swaraj Ashram in Bardoli, associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the Bardoli Satyagraha.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state unit, in alliance with Congress for Lok Sabha elections, will also partake in the yatra, with AAP’s state president Isudan Gadhvi joining on March 7.
