Agency(Mumbai): In a significant move echoing the principles of justice and collective resolve, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi embarked on the ‘Nyay Sankalp Padyatra’ from Mani Bhavan, Gandhi’s historical residence, to August Kranti Maidan in South Mumbai. This march, conducted on a serene Sunday morning, was not just a walk; it was a powerful homage to the Quit India Movement, a pivotal event in India’s freedom struggle initiated from the very grounds of August Kranti Maidan in 1942. Accompanying Rahul Gandhi were notable figures including his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, alongside a committed contingent of Congress supporters.

The padyatra, symbolizing a steadfast commitment to the ideals of justice (‘Nyay’), saw the participation of members from various opposition INDIA bloc constituents, illustrating a united front against contemporary challenges. This event followed the conclusion of Rahul Gandhi’s ambitious ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ a 63-day outreach endeavor that spanned from the conflict-affected region of Manipur to Mumbai, culminating in a tribute to Dr. B R Ambedkar at ‘Chaityabhoomi.’

As the day progressed, the opposition’s INDIA bloc prepared for an evening rally, poised as a display of solidarity and strength. Esteemed personalities such as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav were among the scheduled participants, underlining the collective aspiration for a just and equitable India. This padyatra and the subsequent rally not only reinforce the Congress party’s commitment to social and political justice but also resonate with the historical ethos of resistance and liberation that August Kranti Maidan symbolizes, bridging past struggles with current aspirations for a fairer society.
