Agency (New Delhi): As campaigning for the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections draws to a close, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a strong stand against the Modi government and its policies during a rally in Dilshad Garden, North East Delhi. Addressing a crowd while campaigning for INDIA candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, Gandhi emphatically declared, “We will tear down the Agniveer scheme and throw it in the dustbin.”

Highlighting the ideological battle rather than a mere quest for power, Gandhi stated, “This is a fight between ideologies. The BJP government wants to govern India like rajas and maharajas, ignoring the voices of the poor, Adivasis, and Dalits who make up 90 percent of the population.”

Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of breaking promises and damaging the economy. “Narendra Modiji promised 2 crore jobs for the youth but destroyed the system with demonetisation, benefiting only Adani and Ambani. Small shops, traders, and factories have been decimated,” he said. He noted that Bangladesh has surpassed India in textile production due to the collapse of small and medium businesses.

Addressing a recent accident involving an affluent youth in Pune, Gandhi contrasted the leniency shown to the wealthy with the harsh penalties faced by ordinary people. “Why isn’t a truck driver given the same leniency to write an essay when involved in an accident?” he questioned.

Gandhi also criticized BJP leaders for their intentions towards the Constitution. “For the first time, BJP leaders have openly said they will dismantle the Constitution if they come to power. The citizens of this country and Congress will stand against them to protect our democracy, reservations, and achievements like MNREGA,” he asserted.

Taking a jab at PM Modi, Gandhi said, “The one who claims he was sent by parmatma only works for 22 people — Ambani and Adani. He fulfills their demands within minutes, whether it’s the railways, infrastructure, or the Agniveer scheme.”

Referring to Modi’s actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gandhi said, “People were dying on the streets, and he told them to bang thalis (plates). His actions during the pandemic were absurd and out of touch with the people’s suffering.”
