Agency (Himachal Prdesh): Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, recently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for waiving loans worth Rs 16 lakh-crore for 22 individuals over the past decade but failing to allocate Rs 9,000 crore for disaster relief in Himachal Pradesh following last year’s monsoon rains. Gandhi’s remarks were made during an election rally in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, in support of Vinod Sultanpuri, the Congress candidate for the Shimla (SC) Parliamentary constituency.

Gandhi accused Modi of neglecting the needs of the hilly state and attempting to “steal” its elected government. His comments came shortly after PM Modi claimed that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh had mishandled Central flood aid funds and promised corrective measures.

Addressing the rally, Gandhi alleged that Modi had granted control of all storage facilities to a single individual, impacting apple prices. He also claimed that the share prices of Adani-owned companies rise whenever Modi takes office.

In his speech, Gandhi assured that if Congress came to power at the Centre, it would implement a Minimum Support Price for crops and offer farm loan waivers. He urged Congress workers to strive for victories in all four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh to counter BJP’s attempts to undermine the Indian Constitution.

Gandhi also emphasized his personal connection to the state, mentioning that his sister lives in Shimla and asserting that both he and Priyanka Gandhi are dedicated to serving the people from Delhi.

He criticized the media for losing credibility and promised that a Congress-led government would introduce the ‘Pehli Naukri Pakki Adhikar’ program, ensuring one year of guaranteed jobs for graduates.
