Agency(New Delhi): Amidst his cross-country Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledged further commitment to women’s empowerment and protection with the unveiling of the Nari Nyay initiative. At a women’s rally in Maharashtra’s Dhule district, Gandhi introduced five key schemes designed to bolster the socioeconomic status of women across the nation.

The Nari Nyay guarantees encompass a broad range of measures aimed at financial support, employment equality, respect for women workers, rights advocacy, and safe housing:

Mahalakshmi: This scheme promises to deposit Rs 1 lakh annually into the bank accounts of impoverished women, a move aimed at directly supporting women’s financial independence and well-being.

Aadhi aabaadi, poora haq: Advocating for gender equality, this guarantee pledges a 50 percent quota for women in government jobs, ensuring substantial representation in public employment.

Shakti ka samman: Gandhi committed to doubling the budgetary allocation for ASHA workers, anganwadi employees, and those involved in mid-day meal schemes, recognizing their vital contributions to society.

Adhikar maitri: Highlighting the need for legal and educational support, this initiative aims to appoint nodal officers dedicated to educating women about their rights and assisting them in legal matters.

Savitri Bai Phule hostels: To provide safe and supportive living spaces, the Congress plans to establish hostels for women in every district, named after the pioneering female educationist Savitribai Phule.

These measures, outlined during Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, are part of the Congress’s broader election campaign focusing on justice for all citizens as envisioned in the Constitution of India. The Nari Nyay initiative, along with previously announced guarantees for youth, indigenous tribes, and forthcoming promises for farmers, underscores the Congress’s vision for a more inclusive and equitable Indian society.
