Agency (New Delhi): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, on Thursday, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of awarding several infrastructure projects, including ports, airports, and defense contracts, to businessman Adani over the past decade. These allegations were made during a campaign rally in Telangana, a day after PM Modi questioned why Rahul Gandhi had ceased mentioning ‘Adani-Ambani’ in his speeches post-poll announcement.
Rahul Gandhi criticized Modi, accusing him of catering to the interests of only 20-22 wealthy individuals in the country, effectively turning them into billionaires. He alleged that PM Modi’s policies have significantly benefited these select few, particularly Adani.
The Congress leader also charged that the BJP’s privatization of government firms was a strategic move to eliminate reservations. He asserted, “BJP wants to abolish reservations while Congress wants to increase them beyond 50 percent.” Rahul Gandhi emphasized that if Congress were to come to power, they would implement a caste census nationwide to ensure fair representation.
Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi responded to some BJP leaders’ comments about potentially altering the Constitution. He firmly stated, “No force can change the Constitution,” emphasizing the Congress party’s commitment to protecting constitutional values and ensuring social justice.
These remarks underscore the ongoing political tussle and the Congress party’s stance on privatization, social justice, and economic equality as they continue their campaign efforts.
