During the event, the President highlighted the expansive scope of modern medical science beyond just treatment, particularly in the context of the ongoing 4th Industrial Revolution. She pointed out the significant advancements in synthetic biology and CRISPR gene editing, acknowledging their potential in solving longstanding health issues while cautioning against their misuse.

Emphasizing the revered status of doctors in society, President Murmu underscored the ethical and moral responsibilities of medical professionals. She advocated for the integration of professional competence with human values like compassion, kindness, and empathy in healthcare. Echoing Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings, she stressed the importance of prioritizing ‘service before self’ over financial gains.

The President also expressed her appreciation for LHMC’s initiatives in healthcare innovation. She noted LHMC’s registration as an Organ Transplant Retrieval Centre and the launch of the Comprehensive Antibiotic Stewardship Program to combat antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, she acknowledged LHMC’s involvement in the iDrone Initiative for Blood Bag Delivery and the establishment of the National Human Milk Bank and Lactation Counseling Center ‘Vatsalya – Matri Amrit Kosh’ in collaboration with the Government of Norway. These efforts, she believed, would contribute significantly to public health awareness and the reduction of infant mortality rates.
