OYO Cuts Ties with Noida Hotel Over Illegal Activities

OYO terminates its contract with a Noida hotel implicated in a flesh trade scandal, affirming its commitment to safe and ethical hospitality practices.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): OYO, a prominent hospitality technology firm, has officially severed its relationship with Sheetla Hotel in Noida following distressing allegations of flesh trade activities at the location. The decision was confirmed by OYO after a police raid earlier this month exposed the illegal operations.

In collaboration with the anti-human trafficking unit, Noida police conducted the raid on April 10 at the hotel located in Behlolpur, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals linked to the racket. During the operation, authorities also rescued four women and three minors who were found on the premises.

In response to these allegations, OYO conducted an extensive internal review which revealed that Sheetla Hotel had already been underperforming in its partnership obligations. This prompted the immediate termination of their contract. OYO reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against any illegal or unethical activities in its associated properties.

Pawas Kumar, OYO’s head for North India, emphasized the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance monitoring and auditing practices to prevent such incidents in the future. He also acknowledged the crucial role of community vigilance and the importance of public cooperation in reporting suspicious activities.

In a move to reinforce safe hospitality standards nationwide, OYO had previously launched a safety initiative in November 2023, in collaboration with various law enforcement bodies. This program includes workshops and seminars across major cities like Noida, Lucknow, and Bangalore, aimed at aligning hotel practices with legal and ethical standards and fostering a secure environment for guests and residents alike.
