The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has sanctioned a 50% discount on motor vehicle tax for vehicles sold at the 'Ujjain Vikramotsav Trade Fair 2024'.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Bhopal): The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has unanimously passed a proposal offering a substantial 50% discount on the lifetime motor vehicle tax rate. This discount applies to non-transport and light vehicles sold at the upcoming ‘Ujjain Vikramotsav Trade Fair 2024.’ The decision was made during a state cabinet meeting at Mantralaya.

Scheduled to take place from March 1 to April 9, the Vikramotsav Trade Fair in Ujjain will not only be a commercial hub but will also feature various cultural programs. The tax exemption is applicable to vehicles that receive permanent registration from the Regional Transport Office in Ujjain. Furthermore, automobile traders from outside Ujjain are eligible to sell vehicles at the fair, provided they obtain a business certificate from the Regional Transport Office and ensure their presence at the event.

In addition to this tax relief measure, the cabinet has also approved the expansion of the 45.475 km Indore-Ujjain 4-lane road into a 6-lane paved shoulder road, with an allocated budget of Rs 1692 crore.

The council of ministers granted revised administrative approval of Rs 224.46 crore for the Awliya Medium Irrigation Project on the Ghorapachhad River near Roshni village in Khandwa district. The project’s cost has risen by Rs 59.38 crore due to factors like special land acquisition packages and an increase in the irrigated area and construction costs.

Furthermore, the cabinet has decided to allocate Rs 1500 crore under the capital head for the fiscal year 2023-24. This fund is earmarked for new infrastructure development works in rural areas under the “Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak and Infrastructure Development Yojana.”

Additionally, the council of ministers approved an amendment in the Madhya Pradesh University Act, 1973, through the Madhya Pradesh University (Second Amendment) Bill- 2024. This amendment incorporates Khargone and other districts under the new Krantisurya Tantya Bhil University and adds colleges from Guna, Ashoknagar, and other districts under the new Tatya Tope University. This move signifies the government’s commitment to expanding educational infrastructure and opportunities across various regions of the state.
