Agency(New Delhi): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, expressing doubt over their ability to secure even 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at a public event in West Bengal, CM Mamata stated, “I doubt if you (Congress) will win 40. I was offering two seats and would have let them win. But they wanted more. I said okay, contest on all 42 then. Rejected! There has been no conversation with them since.”

She also expressed disappointment at the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra program in West Bengal, which she learned about through unofficial channels, despite being a member of the INDIA bloc. Mamata challenged the Congress to defeat the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, Banaras, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh if they had the courage.

The West Bengal Chief Minister previously asserted that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), would form the government at the Centre in alliance with like-minded regional partners after the Lok Sabha elections. However, she ruled out an alliance with the CPI (M), citing alleged violence during their rule in the state.
