LDF MLA’s “DNA Remark” Against Rahul Gandhi Ignites Controversy

"Controversial DNA comment targets Rahul Gandhi," sparks outrage

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): A contentious statement made by LDF MLA P V Anwar has escalated into a major political controversy ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. During an election meeting in Edathanattukara, Anwar suggested that the DNA of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should be examined, labeling him a “fourth-grade citizen” unworthy of the Gandhi surname.

This provocative comment was in response to Gandhi’s criticisms of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, questioning why Vijayan had not been interrogated or arrested by central agencies despite various allegations against him. Anwar’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism, particularly from the Congress party, which has filed a complaint with the Election Commission and called for immediate police action against the MLA for his derogatory statement.

Kerala’s Chief Minister defended Anwar’s right to critique Gandhi, asserting that the Congress leader is not immune to criticism. “Rahul Gandhi will get a reply for what he said. He is not a person who stands beyond criticism,” Vijayan commented.

The Congress party, deeply offended by the remarks, has rallied its senior leaders, including KPCC acting president M M Hassan and AICC Secretary K C Venugopal, to denounce the LDF’s actions. Venugopal accused the CPI (M) of intentionally delegating the Nilambur MLA to demean Gandhi and his family lineage.

This incident has intensified the political rivalry between the LDF and Congress, highlighting the volatile atmosphere as the Lok Sabha elections approach. The use of personal attacks in the campaign rhetoric has been criticized by observers, pointing to a need for more civil discourse in political engagements.
