Karnataka Government to Settle Rs 80 Lakh Bill for PM Modi’s Mysuru Visit

Karnataka to Pay Hospitality Bill for PM Modi's 2023 Mysuru Visit

The Aryavarth Express
Agency (Karnataka): Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre announced on Monday that the state government will settle the Rs 80 lakh hospitality bill for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Mysuru last year. The visit was part of the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger celebrations held in April 2023.

Minister Khandre clarified that it is customary for the state government to host dignitaries such as the Prime Minister and the President. However, due to the assembly elections and the enforcement of the model code of conduct in April last year, the state government was not involved in planning the event.

“It is a tradition of the state government to host dignitaries like the Prime Minister and the President when they arrive. But in April last year, when the assembly elections were held in the state, the state government did not play any role in the planning of this program as the model code of conduct was in force,” Khandre stated.

To resolve the confusion, the Karnataka government has decided to pay the outstanding bill of Radisson Blu Hotel in Mysuru, where PM Modi stayed during his visit. “Dispute will be closed by paying the money,” Khandre assured.

Previously, Radisson Blu Hotel had reported that the bill for PM Modi’s stay had not been cleared by the government. The settlement aims to address and close this dispute.
