Agency(Gurugram): In a distressing turn of events at Sapphire Ninty Laforestta Cafe, located in Gurugram’s Sector 90, a dining experience ended in a health scare for a group of friends. This incident, which occurred on March 2nd, led to the arrest of the cafe’s manager, Gagandeep, by Gurugram Police on Tuesday, March 5th. The individuals involved suffered severe mouth burns, with some reporting blood vomiting after consuming what was presented to them as a “mouth freshener” following their meal.

The case gained significant attention after details began spreading across social media platforms, prompting an immediate investigation by law enforcement. Upon arrival at the scene, the investigating team from Manesar, led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, found the establishment closed. The manager, a Delhi resident from Kirti Nagar, is now facing charges related to the incident.

Ankit Kumar, who was among those affected, recounted the harrowing experience to the authorities. He, along with his wife Neha Sabarwal and friends Manika Goinka, Deepak Arora, and Himani, visited the cafe for dinner. Their evening took a drastic turn after accepting the offered mouth freshener from the staff, leading to immediate health deterioration.

According to Kumar’s account, the consumption of the supposed mouth freshener caused him and his companions to vomit blood, a symptom of severe internal distress. He also criticized the lack of assistance from the cafe’s management and staff during their ordeal.

Further investigation revealed the substance served was dry ice, or frozen carbon dioxide, known for its potential to cause soft tissue damage if ingested. This hazardous material was mistakenly given to the patrons in the form of small crystals, posing a serious risk to their health.

Following the incident, the affected individuals were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The cafe manager’s arrest marks the beginning of legal proceedings, with law enforcement pledging to pursue justice for the victims. The local police station’s head, Manoj Kumar, confirmed that the manager would be brought before a court to face charges related to the incident.
