Gourav Vallabh resigns from Congress, citing inability to support anti-Sanatan slogans and criticize wealth creators, highlighting a disconnect with party's direction.

Agency(New Delhi): Gourav Vallabh, a spokesperson for the Congress party, announced his resignation from all positions within the party as well as its membership on Thursday. He expressed his discomfort with continuously criticizing ‘wealth creators’ and chanting anti-Sanatan slogans, which led to his decision to step down. Vallabh made his resignation public through a letter addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, which he posted on the social media platform X.

In his departure note, Vallabh voiced his concerns about the party’s lack of direction and his discomfort with its current trajectory. He highlighted that his absence from television appearances and press conferences for several months was a precursor to his resignation. Vallabh reminisced about his initial enthusiasm for joining the Congress, praising its historical respect for youth and intellectuals. However, he lamented the recent disconnect between the party and young individuals with innovative ideas.

Vallabh criticized the Congress for losing touch with grassroots realities and failing to grasp the ambitions of a new India, which resulted in its inability to secure power or establish itself as a formidable opposition. He expressed his disappointment with the party’s decision to distance itself from the Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ event in Ayodhya, marking another point of ideological divergence.

This resignation underscores a significant ideological divide within the Congress party, as Vallabh points out his fundamental disagreements with the party’s stance and direction. It reflects a broader challenge faced by traditional political entities in adapting to the evolving landscape of political ideologies and public expectations in India.
