Food Poisoning Incident at Ahmedabad Wedding

50 people, including newlyweds, hospitalized following a wedding feast in Ahmedabad due to suspected food poisoning.

Agency (Ahmedabad): In a concerning incident, fifty people, including the bride and groom, fell ill after consuming food at a wedding feast in Ahmedabad. Of these, 45 individuals were rushed to the emergency room of Nadiad Civil Hospital, while five relatives of the bride sought medical attention at LG Hospital in Maninagar, Ahmedabad.

Officials from LG Hospital confirmed the admission of five guests from the wedding and noted that their conditions have since stabilized. Another guest reported that several attendees began showing symptoms of food poisoning during their return journey, necessitating urgent transportation to Nadiad Civil Hospital via three ambulances. The health status of all affected individuals is currently being monitored.

The health emergency unfolded late at night on February 12, following the “Vidai” ceremony of Himanshu Bhavsar’s wedding procession from Rajpipla. The wedding, which took place at Vishala Landmark, involved guests traveling in a luxury bus accompanied by five cars.

The wedding menu, which included a pineapple milkshake as a welcome drink, is suspected to be the source of the ailment. The feast featured various dishes such as soup, salad, carrot halwa, dal fry with jeera rice, roti, paneer, another vegetable dish, and buttermilk.

This incident highlights the importance of ensuring food safety and hygiene, particularly at large gatherings such as weddings, where the health of many guests can be impacted. The specific cause of the food poisoning is under investigation, and necessary measures will likely be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
