Delhi Man Fakes IAF Identity, Arrested

A 39-year-old man impersonating a wing commander for medical treatment access at Palam Air Force Station has been arrested by Delhi Police.

The Aryavarth Express
Agency(New Delhi): Delhi Police have apprehended a 39-year-old individual, Vinayak Chadha, for posing as a wing commander in the Indian Air Force (IAF). He attempted to gain entry into the Palam Air Force Station with a counterfeit identity card, seeking treatment. Residing in Delhi’s Malka Ganj area, Chadha’s deception was uncovered by vigilant Air Force personnel.

The incident occurred on February 21, when Chadha tried to enter the Air Force Station using falsified documents. The police were alerted to this unauthorized entry attempt by a PCR call. The Air Force personnel apprehended him as he tried to breach the base’s security.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rohit Meena revealed that upon interrogation, it was discovered that Chadha’s motive was to secure medical treatment for his father, Gaurav Chadha, through fraudulent means. He had successfully passed the first security checkpoint at the Air Force Dental Hospital on Thimmaya Road by presenting fake identification as a Wing Commander. However, he was caught at the second layer of security.

Chadha was found in possession of a forged identity card and several other liquor cards bearing the names of different defense personnel. This led to his handover to the investigating officer and the initiation of legal proceedings.

A Junior Warrant Officer from the Air Force filed a formal complaint, leading to the registration of a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Delhi Cantt police station. These sections include 419, 468, 471, and 474, pertaining to cheating, forgery, and using forged documents.

Currently, Vinayak Chadha is in police custody, and an in-depth investigation is ongoing to uncover further details and potential accomplices in this impersonation case.
