Pemmasani, a doctor by profession, emerged victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by defeating YSRCP’s Kilari Venkata Rosaiah in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur constituency.

At 48 years old, Pemmasani made his electoral debut in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and is set to join the Modi 3.0 cabinet. With over Rs 5,700 crore in declared family assets, he is the wealthiest candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He secured 344,695 votes in the election, succeeding Galla Jayadev, who retired from politics in January 2024.

Speaking to ANI about a pre-swearing-in meeting at Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi’s residence, Pemmasani said, “PM Modi asked us to make a 100-day action plan and also instructed us on how to maintain our behavior because every small thing we do is observed by the people. We were given basic instructions, nothing extraordinary. My priority will be to contribute to Indian society and assist the Modi government in any way I can.”

Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi interacted with members of Parliament likely to be inducted into his Cabinet and Council of Ministers during a customary high tea at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) unanimously elected Narendra Modi as their leader on June 5. For the oath ceremony, around 1,100 Delhi Police traffic personnel were deployed, and a public advisory was issued for traffic movement and route arrangements for delegates.

The Election Commission of India announced that the BJP won 240 seats, while the Congress secured 99 seats in the 2024 general elections. In previous elections, the BJP won 303 seats in 2019 and 282 seats in 2014.

Pemmasani, an accomplished doctor, achieved the 27th rank in the EAMCET exam for the 1993-94 academic year, earning admission to Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad.
