Agency(Hyderabad): In a significant crackdown, Hyderabad police apprehended the son of BJP leader Gajjala Yoganand, Gajjala Vivekanand, along with nine others for consuming drugs at a party in a hotel. The 37-year-old Vivekanand, who is also the director of Manjeera Group of Companies, was caught at the Radisson Blu hotel in Gachibowli, within the Cyberabad jurisdiction.

The arrest was a coordinated effort between the Special Operations Team-Cyberabad and Gachibowli Police, conducted on Sunday night. The search operation led to the discovery of evidence of drug consumption, including three used plastic covers of cocaine, white paper used for consuming drugs, and three mobile phones.

The police were tipped off about the drug consumption by Vivekanand and his friends. Although they arrived after the guests had left, the team found incriminating evidence at the hotel premises, including used cocaine sachets and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation led the police to Vivekanand’s residence in Jubilee Hills, where he was taken into custody.

During his interrogation, Vivekanand confessed to organizing a party with cocaine for his friends in his hotel room. Subsequent medical examinations confirmed his drug use.

The police are continuing their investigation to identify drug peddlers and other consumers involved in this case, indicating a broader crackdown on drug-related activities in the city. This incident underscores the ongoing issue of drug abuse among influential individuals and the authorities’ efforts to combat it.
