Agency( Bengaluru): Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport was the scene of two separate incidents leading to the arrests of two men, each caught using fraudulent documents to breach airport security. These arrests underscore the rigorous security protocols in place to prevent unauthorized access and ensure passenger safety.

In the first case, Prakhar Srivastava, a 24-year-old from Jharkhand residing in Bengaluru, was apprehended early on January 8 after it was discovered he had utilized a counterfeit ticket from Akasa Airline to gain entry into Terminal 1 (T1). Srivastava’s intent, as he lingered within the terminal premises until the early hours, was to assist a female friend bound for Delhi with her luggage. Despite his seemingly benign motives, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intervened, leading to the revelation of the ticket’s inauthenticity by Akasa Airline staff, who then transferred custody of Srivastava to the local police.

Further investigation by the police illuminated Srivastava’s method of altering an existing ticket to facilitate his entry, an act devoid of malicious intent but nonetheless constituting a security breach. He now faces charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including trespass and forgery.

The second case involved an individual named Shreyas, who attempted to board a Bengaluru to Delhi flight using a passport belonging to another person, Ramananda Matigodu Sathyanarayana. The discrepancy between Shreyas’s appearance and the passport photo did not escape the vigilant IndiGo airline staff, who, upon a more detailed verification, handed him over to the authorities. Shreyas’s attempt to impersonate another traveler has resulted in charges under IPC Section 419 and violations of the Passport Act.

These incidents highlight the vital importance of stringent security measures and the vigilance of airport staff in maintaining the integrity of air travel protocols. They serve as a reminder of the consequences of attempting to circumvent airport security and the commitment of law enforcement to uphold safety standards.
