Agency (New Delhi): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is considering legal action to secure a designated office space within Tihar Central Jail for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s use. The party aims to provide essential office amenities, including video conferencing, for Kejriwal within Tihar, according to party sources on Tuesday.

Sources revealed that AAP’s legal team is preparing to cite past instances where undertrials were allowed to establish and operate offices within Tihar Jail to bolster their case.

The party plans to argue in court that if other accused individuals were granted such privileges, then an elected Chief Minister should not be deprived of similar facilities.

Kejriwal, arrested on March 21 in connection with the excise policy case, is currently housed in Tihar’s Jail No 2. He is permitted to meet Delhi government officials and family members under specific conditions approved by the court.

The AAP’s legal move aims to challenge the denial of essential facilities for an elected Chief Minister and ensure that Kejriwal can effectively perform his duties even while incarcerated.
