Review Overview

The Aryavarth Express Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: Political leaders across Madhya Pradesh, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the demise of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who was killed in a chartered plane crash in Baramati earlier in the day.

In a condolence message posted on X, CM Mohan Yadav remembered Pawar as a grassroots leader dedicated to the welfare of the poor, deprived, and backward sections of society. He highlighted Pawar’s contribution to Maharashtra’s development and prayed for strength for the bereaved family. “I pray to Baba Mahakal to grant him a place at His lotus feet and give strength to the grieving family to bear this loss. Om Shanti,” Yadav said.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar termed the incident “extremely unfortunate and heart-breaking,” calling Pawar’s death an irreparable loss to political and social life. He expressed condolences to the family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan also described the incident as tragic and recalled her interactions with Pawar, calling him a wise and balanced leader. She said Pawar was known for maintaining harmony, even within his party, and that such personalities are essential in politics. “The passing of such a person is very tragic,” Mahajan said.

Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari expressed sorrow over Pawar’s demise, calling the news “painful and heartbreaking.” In a post on X, he prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family and supporters.

Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Umang Singhar, also mourned Pawar’s death, terming it an unfortunate incident. He prayed for strength for the family to endure the deep loss and for the departed soul to find a place at God’s divine feet.

Ajit Pawar died on Wednesday morning when a chartered aircraft flying from Mumbai to Baramati crash-landed at the runway threshold in Baramati at around 8:45 am. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), all five people on board—including Pawar, two accompanying personnel (a PSO and an attendant), and two crew members—lost their lives. Further details regarding the crash are awaited.
