The Aryavarth Express Mohali (Punjab): Several prominent schools in Mohali, S.A.S. Nagar, received threatening emails around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, prompting authorities to take immediate precautionary measures. The affected schools were cordoned off, holidays were declared for students and staff, and specialized teams—including bomb disposal, anti-sabotage, and ARP units—were deployed to conduct thorough searches.
SP City Mohali Dilpreet Singh confirmed that the operation is ongoing and said no suspicious items have been found so far.
“Today at approximately 7:30 AM, three prominent schools in Mohali received threatening emails. Our bomb disposal squads, ARP teams, anti-sabotage teams, and local police are on-site, carrying out detailed inspections. All our Gazetted Officers, DSPs, and SPs are actively supervising the searches,” Singh said.
He added, “As a precautionary measure, the schools have been cordoned off and a holiday declared for students and staff. Searches are being conducted within the secured areas. If anything suspicious or concrete evidence is found, we will provide updates. So far, nothing has been discovered.”
On the source of the threat, Singh said that a technical investigation is underway. “We are verifying all details regarding the emails. Through this medium, I urge the public not to panic. We are treating this matter seriously to ensure there is no loss of life or property,” he stated.
The incident follows a similar scare in Delhi on Monday, when bomb threat emails were sent to nine schools between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Delhi Police, along with fire department and bomb disposal squads, promptly responded to the alerts.
