New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached industrial land in Haryana as part of its ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of the codeine-based cough syrup “Cocrex” for illegal drug use. The attached property, valued at ₹1 crore, belongs to Vidit Healthcare Pvt Ltd, a Himachal Pradesh-based company.
According to the agency, its Jammu sub-zonal office attached the land in Panipat under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
The ED launched its probe based on a case filed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Jammu against Vidit Healthcare—managed by Neeraj Bhatia—along with Niket Kansal and others. They are accused of diverting Cocrex, a codeine-based cough syrup, from legal manufacturing channels for illicit drug use.
The investigation found that between 2018 and 2024, Vidit Healthcare supplied cough syrup worth ₹16.74 crore to several entities allegedly controlled by Niket Kansal, including S S Industries, Kansal Industries, Nouveta Pharma, Kansal Pharmaceuticals, and N K Pharmaceuticals.
The ED further stated that part of the illegally diverted stock was supplied to Srinagar resident Raees Ahmed Bhat. The NCB had seized large quantities of the syrup from him on January 14, 2024.
Vidit Healthcare is estimated to have earned ₹2.92 crore in proceeds of crime from these transactions.
Earlier, on February 13 this year, the ED conducted searches at the premises of Neeraj Bhatia and Niket Kansal, seizing ₹32 lakh in cash and jewellery worth ₹1.61 crore.
