Pune: A man was arrested in Pune for impersonating an Indian Air Force officer in a joint operation conducted by the Southern Command Military Intelligence and Kharadi Police.
The suspect, identified as Gaurav Kumar, was detained around 8:40 PM on Sunday in the Kharadi area, following intelligence inputs about his suspicious activities. Authorities launched a surveillance and verification operation before taking him into custody.
During the arrest, officials recovered items typically associated with Air Force personnel, including two Air Force T-shirts, an Air Force combat pant, a pair of combat shoes, two Air Force badges, and a tracksuit top.
According to Pune Police, a case has been registered against Kumar under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to the unauthorised wearing of military uniforms or insignia.
The motive behind the impersonation is still under investigation, and authorities are examining whether there are any broader security concerns linked to the case. Further details are awaited.
