The Aryavarth Express Bengaluru (Karnataka): A 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his live-in partner and her associates in Manjunath Nagar under the Bagalgunte Police Station limits, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohan Rao. Three people have been arrested in connection with the February 18 incident — actress Urmila alias Bindu, along with her associates Vinay and Dhanush Gowda.
According to police, Bindu, who had been living with Mohan Rao, had recently developed a close relationship with Vinay, a lorry driver. The two allegedly decided to get married, but Mohan Rao opposed the move.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) DL Nagesh said that Mohan Rao was seen as an obstacle to their plans. “Bindu developed a close friendship with Vinay, and they decided to get married. Mohan Rao was an obstacle to this decision and was forcing her to stay with him. To remove him from the way, the three together committed the crime,” the DCP said.
Police stated that the accused allegedly made the victim consume alcohol on the night of the incident. When he resisted, they stabbed him multiple times and allegedly suffocated him using a plastic cover. The body was later found inside the rented house in Manjunath Nagar.
Following the discovery of the body, a murder case was registered, and an investigation was launched. Police said all three accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
Preliminary investigation also revealed that Mohan Rao and Bindu had rented the house claiming to be a married couple, though both were previously married and living separately from their respective spouses. Authorities are continuing to probe the case.
