Health Minister Unveils Standards for AYUSH Facilities, Champions Integrated Medicine

Union Health Minister launches IPHS for AYUSH centers and collaborates with ICMR to advance integrated health research, showcasing a decade of AYUSH achievements.

Agency(New Delhi): In a significant move towards integrating traditional healthcare with modern medicine, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced the establishment of the Ayush – ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research (AI-ACIHR) and a multicenter clinical trial on Anaemia. This announcement was made at a joint mega event organized by the Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, emphasizing the government’s commitment to advancing holistic healthcare practices.

The event also saw the launch of the “Indian Public Health Standards for Ayush Healthcare Facilities” and celebrated the 27th Convocation & 29th National Seminar of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, themed ‘Ayurvedo Amritanam’. Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the importance of collaborative research in Ayush, bridging the gap between traditional knowledge and scientific innovation, and steering India towards becoming a leader in integrative health research.

Acknowledging the significant progress made by the Ministry of Ayush over the last decade, Secretary Vd. Rajesh Kotecha praised the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in integrating evidence-based Ayush systems into public healthcare. A booklet showcasing the ministry’s achievements in this period was released, underlining the strides made in research, innovation, and public health integration.

The event underscored the government’s integrative approach to healthcare, combining the best practices of Ayurveda and Allopathy to enhance quality healthcare delivery across the country. The launch of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) for Ayush Healthcare facilities is a step towards establishing uniform standards and quality infrastructure in Ayush services, ensuring the public benefits from comprehensive medical services.

The ceremony also honored three stalwarts of Ayurveda with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for their exceptional contributions to the field. Additionally, thirteen Ayurveda scholars were recognized as ‘Fellow’ of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (FRAV), highlighting their outstanding achievements and contributions to traditional medicine.

This event not only marks a milestone in the promotion of integrative healthcare but also sets the stage for a new era where traditional and modern medical practices coalesce, aiming to provide a holistic approach to health and well-being for the Indian population.
