As announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), Homebound, starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, is among the 15 films shortlisted for the next stage of voting in the International Feature Film category for the 98th Academy Awards. A total of films from 86 countries and regions were eligible for consideration in this category.
The Indian film joins an impressive global lineup that includes Argentina’s Belen, Brazil’s The Secret Agent, France’s It Was Just an Accident, Germany’s Sound of Falling, among others.
Homebound revolves around childhood friends Shoaib (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan (Vishal Jethwa), whose shared aspiration of joining the police force defines their lives. Janhvi Kapoor plays a pivotal role, adding emotional depth to the narrative rooted in friendship, duty and the challenges faced by India’s youth.
