Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday handed over government appointment letters to 41 Next of Kin (NoKs) of terrorism victims from the Jammu division. Additionally, 22 beneficiaries received appointment letters under age-relaxation provisions, and 19 wards of J&K Police martyrs were appointed under SRO-43 and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS).
This follows a similar exercise on July 28, 2025, when 94 NoKs of terror victims were provided government jobs. With the latest appointments, 135 families from the Jammu division—who had been awaiting relief for decades—have now been supported.
During the ceremony, families of terror victims narrated their decades-long struggles and recounted their suffering at the hands of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and its local collaborators.
‘Justice Long Denied, Now Delivered’: LG Sinha
Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha paid tribute to the deceased civilians and expressed solidarity with the affected families.
“Terror victim families were left to struggle in silence for decades. Justice was denied to them and their wounds were never healed. Today, they are finally being recognised, respected and rehabilitated,” he said, adding that the government’s commitment is reflected through concrete action.
He reiterated that restoring dignity and economic stability to such families remains a top priority:
“Our mission is to bring meaningful change to the lives of those who were deliberately deprived of justice.”
Stories of Long-delayed Relief
LG Sinha highlighted several cases that had waited nearly 20 years for support:
Naseeb Singh (Rajouri): His father Dharam Singh and four others were killed by terrorists on June 28, 2005. The family lived in fear and hardship for two decades.
Akhtar Hussain (Reasi): Shot dead by terrorists on July 13, 2005, leaving his family to struggle for years.
SPO Sanjeet Kumar (Kishtwar): Killed along with his friend in November 2004 while preparing for a neighbour’s wedding.
“These families carried unbearable grief for years. Today marks a new beginning for them,” the LG said.
‘Terror Ecosystem Being Dismantled’
Sinha asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the administration is dismantling the remnants of the terror network in the region.
“We have not bought peace, but established peace. The era of misgovernance is over. Terrorists and separatists are not given government jobs—they are identified and punished,” he said. He warned that elements spreading misinformation or separatist narratives would face strict legal action.
Appealing to citizens, the LG urged all communities to contribute to the “Mahayagya of development” in Jammu & Kashmir.

DGP Nalin Prabhat; Home Department Principal Secretary Chandraker Bharti; GAD Commissioner Secretary M. Raju; Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar; IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti; district deputy commissioners, senior officials, victims’ families, MLAs, and members of various social organisations were present at the event.
