Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir): Flight operations at Srinagar airport were disrupted on Monday as dense fog led to the cancellation of two flights operated by IndiGo and SpiceJet, according to an update shared by the airport on social media platform X.
The airport advised passengers to stay updated on their flight status by checking directly with their respective airlines for the latest information and alternate arrangements.
On Sunday, IndiGo issued a travel advisory stating that flight operations to and from Srinagar were being affected due to dense fog in the region, which significantly reduced visibility. The airline cautioned that changing weather conditions could result in delays or further cancellations, depending on operational feasibility and regulatory clearance.
Passengers were urged to check the latest flight updates on the airline’s website or mobile app before heading to the airport. IndiGo also informed travellers that in the event of a cancellation, they could reschedule their journey or claim a refund through the airline’s official portal.
SpiceJet, meanwhile, also released a weather advisory on Sunday, warning that all departures, arrivals, and consequential flights could be impacted due to adverse weather conditions in Srinagar. The airline requested passengers to regularly monitor their flight status through its website.
In addition, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an advisory noting that foggy conditions across parts of northern India were affecting visibility and could lead to delays or changes in flight operations at select airports. Passengers were advised to check flight updates through official airline channels and allow extra time for airport travel and check-in procedures.
AAI further stated that passenger assistance teams have been deployed at affected airports to provide on-ground support and ensure passenger safety amid the dense fog conditions.
