Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir): Marking the start of the New Year 2026 on an optimistic note, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inaugurated an open-air gym at the tactical headquarters of its 84 Battalion in Chanderkot, Ramban district, on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, 84 Battalion Commandant Ranbir Singh said the facility was opened on the first day of the year to symbolise renewed energy, motivation and commitment among the personnel. He recalled that the area had suffered extensive damage during floods in August last year, following which the battalion personnel collectively undertook efforts to rebuild the premises.
“Today, on the first day of the year, we inaugurated an open-air gym at the tactical headquarters of the 84th Battalion here in Chanderkot to make a positive beginning. The site was badly affected by floods last August, and our team worked together to rebuild it,” the Commandant said.
He added that the proximity of the Chenab River adds to the serene and refreshing environment of the location, making it an ideal setting for physical training and recreation.
The open-air gym has been established to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and morale among CRPF personnel, reflecting the force’s emphasis on health, resilience and preparedness despite operating in challenging terrain and conditions.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved a significant breakthrough on December 7 during a coordinated search operation in the Bhalara forest area under the jurisdiction of Thathri Police Station in Doda district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the SOG recovered one SLR rifle, two magazines and 22 live rounds during the operation, according to an official release.
