Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasizes the NDA's intent to implement the "One Nation, One Election" plan across India within five years while criticizing the current government in Andhra Pradesh for corruption.

Agency (New Delhi): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that if re-elected, the NDA will implement the “One Nation, One Election” policy across India within five years. Speaking at a campaign rally in Jammalamadugu, Kadapa district, he criticized the ruling YSR Congress government of Andhra Pradesh for its corruption, which he claims has plunged the state into a debt of ₹13.5 lakh crore.

Singh asserted that the NDA would work to eliminate corruption in Andhra Pradesh if elected to power in the state. He further explained that the simultaneous holding of Lok Sabha and assembly elections aligns with the NDA’s vision of streamlining election processes to save resources and time.

“Lok Sabha elections are being held in Andhra Pradesh simultaneously with the Assembly polls. Our commitment is that we will implement ‘one nation, one election’ in the next five years across the country so that time and energy are saved,” Singh explained.

Taking a critical stance against Congress, Singh predicted that the party would become irrelevant in Indian politics, comparing its fate to the extinction of dinosaurs. He also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he lacks moral grounds to participate in Indian politics.

Singh highlighted the NDA’s respect for former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, noting that the NDA government honored him with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for propelling India to the position of the world’s fifth-largest economy, with potential to soon become the third-largest. Under Modi’s tenure, Singh claims, 25 crore people were lifted out of poverty.

Moreover, Singh mentioned Modi’s diplomatic achievement of halting the Russia-Ukraine conflict for four and a half hours to facilitate the safe evacuation of 22,000 Indian citizens.

He emphasized the BJP’s fulfillment of its major promises, such as building the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, abrogating Article 370, and abolishing triple talaq, while highlighting the corruption-free governance under BJP-led administrations of both Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Modi.
