New Delhi (Agency): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently spoke at the B20 Summit in New Delhi, sharing his vision for a more integrated global economy that balances science, innovation, and social responsibility. The B20 Summit is a platform where policymakers, business leaders, and experts discuss key global issues. In his speech, Modi outlined India’s contributions to science, the importance of mutual trust, and the need for sustainable and inclusive growth.

Celebrating the success of India’s lunar mission, Modi highlighted the role of both science and industry in achieving this milestone. He expressed the importance of running a responsible space program, adding that the festivities were about “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

Discussing the theme of the summit, R.A.I.S.E (Responsibility, Acceleration, Innovation, Sustainability, Equality), Modi emphasized the additional ‘I’ for Inclusiveness. He argued that taking an inclusive approach will positively impact global economic challenges and foster sustainable growth.

He also touched on the significance of ‘mutual trust,’ drawing lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic. Modi mentioned that India had provided medicines to over 150 countries during the crisis, living up to its reputation as the pharmacy of the world. “The future of global growth is dependent upon the future of business,” Modi said, underscoring the power of trust and collaboration.

Delving into economic matters, Modi talked about the disruptions in the global supply chain due to the pandemic. He stated that India could offer solutions for a more efficient and trusted global supply chain, highlighting the country’s young talent pool and digital revolution. Modi insisted that a deepened partnership with India would bring prosperity to all parties involved.

On sustainability, Modi explained that it was both an opportunity and a business model. He cited the example of millet, a sustainable superfood, and talked about India’s framework for green credit, which promotes ‘planet-positive’ actions. “The well-being of the planet is also our responsibility,” Modi added.

Furthermore, Modi advised businesses to focus on enhancing the purchasing power of individuals, as a self-centric approach would be detrimental to all. He suggested an “International Consumer Care Day” to strengthen trust between businesses and consumers.

Finally, Modi spoke on emerging challenges like cryptocurrencies and ethical considerations around Artificial Intelligence (AI). He stressed the need for a more integrated approach and urged global business communities and governments to work together to promote ethical AI.

Concluding his address, Modi spoke about the significance of moving beyond borders and financial bottom lines. He emphasized a shared purpose, shared planet, and shared prosperity. His speech conveyed the idea that a connected world is not just about technology but also about a shared future, laying down a roadmap for how business leaders and policymakers could work together for a collective transformation.
