PM Modi Aims for Balanced Development Across India, Says Minister Jardosh

New Delhi (Agency): On August 30, 2023, Union Minister Darshana Jardosh announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is focused on ensuring balanced growth and development throughout India. She made this statement during the opening ceremony of SAMARTH, a Central government project aimed at skill development.

Jardosh, who is the Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, remarked that Modi has put in place a system for equal growth from the east to the west and from the north to the south of the country. She emphasized that the administration is actively working on a targeted plan to uplift the Northeast region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).

The minister further elaborated that all Central government ministers are touring the Northeast to gather public feedback on the efficiency of the government and the progress of various social welfare programs. “This is an essential step to understand the needs of the community and refine our schemes accordingly,” she said.

SAMARTH, launched by the Union Ministry of Textiles, is designed to empower artisans through training and capacity-building. The scheme also aims to provide job opportunities in the textile sector. “The inauguration of SAMARTH Training program and distribution of Fly Shuttle frame looms to weavers in Dhansiripar, Nagaland begins a new era for Weavers,” Jardosh mentioned on X, a social media platform previously known as Twitter.

According to Jardosh, people require proper training and modern tools to improve the quality of their craftsmanship. To this end, the Ministry of Textiles has supplied more than 100 pieces of equipment to artisans. “Now, artisans have the latest tools they need to move ahead,” she added.

The Union minister also pointed out the economic significance of the textile industry. She stated that, after agriculture, the textile sector is the second-largest employer in India. This highlights the potential impact of programs like SAMARTH, which could provide a significant boost to employment rates and economic growth.
