India Gears Up for Global Maritime India Summit 2023

India is setting its sails high for maritime growth with the upcoming Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS-23). Shri Shripad Naik, the Minister for State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, spoke at the 2nd roadshow of Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation Ltd. (IPRCL). The roadshow was a prelude to GMIS-23, a significant event aimed at boosting India’s maritime sector.

Minister Naik described the summit as a “watershed moment,” offering an unparalleled platform for businesses to “converge, collaborate, and chart a course towards business and knowledge growth.” He highlighted that the event aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to harness the “immense potential of our coastline strength” for a better future.

Invitations have been extended to important stakeholders and business partners of IPRCL to seize this opportunity. By joining the summit as exhibitors, they can showcase their businesses on an international stage. According to Naik, their presence would commit them to foster a “vibrant ecosystem” thriving on partnership and innovation in maritime and associated infrastructure.

Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, the Managing Director of IPRCL, also addressed the virtual roadshow. He expressed his gratitude to Minister Naik for inspiring stakeholders to participate in GMIS-23, organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Gupta further emphasized that the summit will serve as a collaborative space for investment opportunities and idea exchange to advance the maritime sector.

The summit aims to cover various aspects of maritime, from shipping to ports and waterways. It will also provide a platform for startups, researchers, academic institutions, and skilled resources to collaborate. These initiatives tie back to the Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Prime Minister’s vision of Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal 2047, which envisions maritime growth through over 300 initiatives.

During the roadshow, a presentation was shown by Shri Anang Pal Malik, Director (Works) and Shri R.K. Lal, Chief General Manager, detailing IPRCL’s profile and business opportunities. Guest speakers from Tata Projects Ltd., K.K. Mineral and S.M. Consultant spoke about the business advantages companies can gain during GMIS-23.
