India and Bangladesh Conduct Fifth Annual Defence Dialogue in Dhaka

The fifth Annual Defence Dialogue between India and Bangladesh takes place in Dhaka, focusing on enhancing bilateral defense cooperation and setting future relations between the two Armed Forces.

New Delhi (Agency): In an effort to bolster regional security and strengthen bilateral ties, India and Bangladesh conducted their fifth Annual Defence Dialogue on August 28, 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by India’s Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane and his Bangladeshi counterpart Lt Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman.

The dialogue stands as the highest form of institutional interaction between the armed forces of India and Bangladesh. Both countries emphasized the importance of this annual event in shaping the future relations between their respective armed forces.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed their existing defense cooperation activities and expressed satisfaction over the growing engagements in this sector. The talks covered ongoing bilateral military exercises, and there was a mutual agreement to increase the complexity of these exercises in the future.

Shri Giridhar Aramane and Lt Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman acknowledged the success of the dialogue and stressed the importance of continued engagement. Both leaders agreed that the common understanding reached at this year’s Annual Defence Dialogue would form the basis for future interactions between the two nations’ armed forces.
