Encounter Continues in Jammu and Kashmir Between Terrorists and Security Forces

Clashes persist for a second day in Rajouri, resulting in one terrorist death and police advisories for resident safety.

New Delhi (Agency): In the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, an encounter between terrorists and security forces is still ongoing, having persisted into its second day. Local police have urged residents to remain a minimum of two kilometers away from the conflict area, emphasizing their safety.

On Saturday, during the early stages of this confrontation, an unidentified terrorist was eliminated. This took place amidst a cordon-and-search operation initiated by both the police and the Army at Gundha-Khawas village within the Budhal area. As per the last received updates, a gunfight between the terrorists and the security forces was still underway.

To bolster the efforts against the terrorists and prevent any potential escape, additional security forces have been deployed to the area. This escalation was a result of initial intelligence that pointed to suspicious terrorist activity within the region. Consequently, a small team of police officers was sent to the area. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, reinforcements from both the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soon joined them. However, as of now, the body of the neutralized terrorist has not been retrieved from the encounter site.

For the protection of the local populace, Rajouri police released an advisory statement. The statement read, “It is for the information of all that the operation is in progress with exchange of crossfire in the general area of village Gundha, Khawas. People are advised not to visit the area and remain at a safe distance of at least two km outside the periphery of the area.” This advisory underscores the need for residents to prioritize their safety and avoid the confrontation site.

The Rajouri encounter is another episode in the ongoing conflict within the region, highlighting the challenges faced by security personnel and the importance of public cooperation in ensuring community safety.
