Agency(New Delhi): In a significant step towards bolstering India’s cybersecurity infrastructure, the Minister of Communications, Railway, and Electronics & Information Technology, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, together with Minister of State for Communications, Mr. Devusinh Chauhan, launched the Department of Telecommunications (DoT)’s Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) and the ‘Chakshu’ facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal. These initiatives are designed to enhance coordination among stakeholders to prevent the misuse of telecom resources in cybercrime and financial frauds, marking a milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to secure India’s digital domain.

The DIP serves as a secure, integrated platform facilitating real-time intelligence sharing and information exchange among various stakeholders, including Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), law enforcement agencies, banks, financial institutions, social media platforms, and identity document issuing authorities. It aims to prevent fraudulent activities by making relevant case information accessible for action within their domains. This platform operates as a backend repository for citizen-initiated reports on the Sanchar Saathi portal, ensuring a coordinated response to cyber threats.

Additionally, the ‘Chakshu’ facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal empowers citizens to proactively report suspected fraudulent communications received via call, SMS, or WhatsApp. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to engage the public in the fight against cybercrime and financial fraud, offering a platform for reporting issues such as KYC expiry scams, impersonation, and other fraudulent schemes designed to deceive citizens.

The launch of these tools is a testament to the government’s commitment to combating cybercrime at all levels—national, organizational, and individual. By providing citizens with the means to report suspicious activities and enhancing stakeholder coordination, the DoT aims to create a more secure digital environment for all Indians.

The initiatives have already shown significant impact, with millions of fraudulent connections disconnected, hundreds of FIRs registered, and substantial amounts of money saved for Indian citizens. The introduction of DIP and ‘Chakshu’ on the Sanchar Saathi portal reinforces the DoT’s dedication to safeguarding the nation’s telecom resources and protecting citizens from cyber threats.

These efforts are aligned with the Secure India project’s objectives to mitigate cyber-frauds and ensure a safer digital space for everyone. By fostering greater awareness and encouraging proactive reporting of suspected fraud, the DoT continues to work towards a secure and resilient digital ecosystem for India.
