Diverse Guests Invited to Independence Day Festivities at Red Fort

INDIA

New Delhi (Agency): For this year’s Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi, the Indian Government has extended an invitation to a diverse group of 1800 special guests. These invitees come from multiple backgrounds, including village leaders, teachers, farmers, and fishermen. Among them, 50 nurses from across the nation have received the honor to join as special attendees.

This effort to include individuals from different professions showcases the Government’s ‘Jan Bhagidari’ vision, which emphasizes community participation. Specifically, the guest list comprises more than 400 Sarpanches (village heads) from 660 active villages, members of the Farmer Producer Organisations, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Shram Yogis involved in the Central Vista Project, Khadi workers, and individuals associated with the making of Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana. The list also includes 50 primary school teachers and fishermen.

The nursing community, in particular, expressed heartfelt gratitude for this special acknowledgment. Anita Tomar, one of the chosen nurses, voiced her appreciation saying, “I would like to thank the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Government of India from the bottom of my heart for inviting us to participate in the Independence Day celebration in New Delhi. It is recognition of our efforts during COVID.”

Vandana Kaushik, another nurse selected for the event, commented, “I express my regards to the government for recognizing our efforts and dedication during Covid. I also want to thank the government for its pro-nurse attitude that it has shown through various development schemes.”

Such invitations aim to honor and acknowledge the contribution of professionals, especially those like nurses, who played a pivotal role during challenging times, such as the COVID pandemic. Including them in national celebrations not only recognizes their sacrifices and dedication but also reinforces the message of unity and collective strength in the diverse country of India.
