Agency(New Delhi): On the illustrious occasion of the 134th Foundation Day of the National Archives of India, Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs, and Culture, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, unveiled a captivating digital exhibition titled “Subhash Abhinandan,” dedicated to the life and legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose. This exhibition, which draws upon the rich repository of documents housed in the National Archives, offers an immersive journey through the life of one of India’s most revered freedom fighters.
Shri Meghwal, speaking at the event, emphasized the significance of connecting with our historical roots to lay a strong foundation for the future, particularly during this era of Amritkaal. He highlighted the theme ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi,’ underscoring the ambition to position India as a global leader across various sectors, including the archival field.
Netaji’s life is extensively documented through personal records available in the National Archives of India, which can be explored via the Netaji Portal and Abhilekh Patal. These archives include a range of materials such as letters penned by Bose, the diary of his father Janaki Nath Bose, records of the Azad Hind Fauj, and other government documents pertaining to his life and activities.
The digital exhibition “Subhash Abhinandan” spans 16 sections, chronicling Bose’s life from his birth to modern times. It features critical documents, including Janaki Nath Bose’s diary, Bose’s civil service examination results, and insights into his speeches and the valiant efforts of the Azad Hind Fauj. The exhibition delves into various facets of his life and struggle, including his role as a freedom fighter, international activities, and the mysterious aspects of his journey. It also highlights the Bharat Ratna award and the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to commemorate Netaji’s contributions.
This digital showcase not only offers a profound glimpse into Netaji’s life but also introduces a virtual reality experience, making it accessible to a wider audience. The National Archives of India, with its extensive collection of over 34 crore pages of historical records, plays a crucial role in preserving the nation’s rich heritage and fostering a deeper understanding of its past. Through “Subhash Abhinandan,” the Archives contribute significantly to honoring the legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose and inspiring future generations.
