Digital India Experience Zone Showcases Innovative Digital Public Infrastructure at 18th G20 Summit

The 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit, to be held in New Delhi from September 9-10, 2023, will feature a prominent attraction called the Digital India Experience Zone. Hosted by the Ministry of Electronics & IT, this zone aims to provide a hands-on experience to G20 delegates on India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and the successful implementation of digital transformation initiatives at a significant scale.

New Delhi (Agency): As New Delhi prepares to host the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit from September 9-10, 2023, the Ministry of Electronics & IT is unveiling a remarkable attraction: the Digital India Experience Zone. This innovative zone aims to provide G20 delegates with a hands-on understanding of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and the successful digital transformation initiatives that have been implemented on a significant scale across the country.

The Digital India Experience Zone will be located at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, and will serve as a showcase of cutting-edge technology and digital initiatives. With the goal of sharing best practices, creating awareness about scalable projects, and offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the power of technology firsthand, the Ministry of Electronics & IT is setting up state-of-the-art exhibition spaces in Hall 4 and Hall 14.

The exhibition is rooted in the principles of:

– Ease of Living
– Ease of Doing Business
– Ease of Governance

The Digital India Experience Zone will provide visitors with insights into seven key initiatives that exemplify the transformative power of digital technology. These initiatives are Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Unified Payment Interface (UPI), eSanjeevani, DIKSHA, Bhashini, and Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Through immersive experiences and live demonstrations, attendees will gain valuable insights into India’s journey towards a digital future and its impact on various sectors.

For instance, attendees will have the opportunity to explore Aadhaar’s Face Authentication Software through live demonstrations, allowing them to interact with cutting-edge technology firsthand. The UPI exhibit will showcase the global applications of the Unified Payment Interface, allowing visitors to scan QR codes and experience seamless transactions.

DigiLocker’s role in streamlining processes across various sectors, such as education, finance, travel, transport, real estate, and more, will be highlighted, showcasing its practical utility. The eSanjeevani exhibit will provide real-time online consultations with doctors specializing in Cardiology, Mental Health, Ophthalmology, and General Medicine, offering visitors health analysis, advice, and e-prescriptions.

DIKSHA’s immersive exhibit will allow visitors to explore educational resources available on the platform. The Bhashini exhibit will feature real-time speech-to-speech translation in Indian languages and UN languages, while the ‘JugalBandi’ Telegram Bot will facilitate interaction in multiple languages.

The Digital India Experience Zone will also provide a journey through the evolution of Digital India since 2014, showcasing major milestones through simulated virtual reality. Visitors can explore ONDC’s collaboration with sellers, customers, and network providers, while a kiosk introducing the G.I.T.A. application will offer insights aligned with the teachings of the revered holy book Shrimad Bhagwad Gita.

This innovative zone employs interactive displays, Virtual Reality, and other advanced technologies to ensure meaningful engagement and an age-appropriate experience for visitors. The Digital India Experience Zone is set to illuminate the transformative potential of digital initiatives and their impact on diverse aspects of Indian society.
