Conference on Transnational Grid Interconnections for One Sun, One World, One Grid Held in New Delhi

A day-long conference on "Transnational Grid Interconnections for One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG)" was organized in New Delhi by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID).

New Delhi (Agency): As part of preparations for the 18th G20 Summit, a significant conference on “Transnational Grid Interconnections for One Sun, One World, One Grid (OSOWOG)” took place in New Delhi on September 6, 2023. This event was organized by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a ‘Maharatna’ company under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The conference aimed to highlight the critical role of transnational grid interconnections in the global transition towards sustainable energy sources and the importance of international cooperation in this endeavor. Key representatives from the government, energy sector experts, and international organizations participated in this crucial discussion.

Addressing the conference virtually, Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri R. K. Singh emphasized that India has already established cross-border interconnections with its neighboring countries and is actively working on strengthening these links. The OSOWOG initiative aims to harness the energy from the sun, making round-the-clock renewable energy more affordable and reducing the need for energy storage. Minister Singh expressed confidence that this initiative would eliminate the need for anyone to go without electricity and provide energy access to millions of people worldwide.
