Agency(Karnataka): In the latest appraisal by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), two of the state’s airports have achieved remarkable rankings in the customer satisfaction index, underscoring their superior service quality and passenger satisfaction levels. The AAI’s comprehensive evaluation for Round -II 2023, juxtaposed with the findings from Round-I 2023, positions Belagavi airport at the fourth place and Hubballi airport closely behind in the fifth, amidst a competitive field of 58 airports.
This meticulous survey encompassed 33 critical aspects, ranging from ground transportation, parking amenities, and baggage cart availability to the efficiency and courteousness of check-in personnel, security inspection thoroughness, and the value proposition of dining and shopping facilities. An added focus on hygiene, a reflection of pandemic-induced priorities, introduced five additional criteria into the assessment framework.
Belagavi airport achieved a commendable score of 4.97, slightly outpacing Hubballi airport’s score of 4.95. It’s noteworthy that the Bhopal airport led the index with a perfect score of 5. Despite their high rankings, both airports faced criticism in specific areas; Belagavi for the perceived value in its restaurant/eating and shopping facilities as well as the courtesy of its check-in staff, whereas Hubballi’s score was slightly marred by its shopping facilities’ value.
Further down the list, two more airports from the state, Mysuru and Kalaburagi, marked their presence, securing the 22nd and 29th spots, respectively. Mysuru airport’s shortcomings were identified across several parameters including the value of parking facilities and the helpfulness and courtesy of both airport and security staff. Kalaburagi airport’s challenges spanned across six areas, notably in the effectiveness of security measures, facility cleanliness, and the stress level experienced by travelers.
