New Delhi: In a significant escalation along the Indo-Pak border, Indian forces successfully neutralised a series of drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan on the night of May 7. The attempted strikes came in response to Operation Sindoor, a coordinated Indian offensive that destroyed nine terror camps located deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Pakistani forces reportedly targeted multiple military installations across Northern and Western India, including key areas such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, and as far west as Bhuj. These incoming threats were intercepted and destroyed by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence network. Among the defence systems deployed were the Indian Air Force’s advanced S-400 ‘Sudarshan Chakra’ missile batteries.
Debris from neutralised drones and missiles has been recovered from several locations, providing clear evidence of Pakistan’s attempted incursion. While an official confirmation from the Indian government is awaited, defence experts have confirmed the success of India’s air defence measures.
In a calibrated and proportionate counterstrike, the Indian Armed Forces launched a series of precision attacks early this morning, targeting Pakistani air defence infrastructure. Notably, an air defence system in Lahore is reported to have been neutralised.
These developments follow the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, which prompted India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor. Over 100 terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen were reportedly eliminated in air strikes that hit four major terror hubs in Pakistan—Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya—and five in PoJK, including camps in Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has intensified unprovoked shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), targeting civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri. The cross-border firing has claimed at least sixteen civilian lives, including women and children.
Indian forces have responded to these provocations with targeted mortar and artillery fire aimed at silencing Pakistani positions. While reiterating its commitment to avoiding further escalation, India has made it clear that its response will be swift and firm if provoked.
