The Aryavarth Express Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu): A bomb threat email sent to the Passport Office in the Chitra area of Coimbatore on Tuesday prompted immediate security measures, officials said.
Following the alert, teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the premises and carried out a comprehensive search operation to ensure the safety of staff and visitors. In a separate incident earlier in the day, the Axis Bank branch located at Statesman House Building in Connaught Place, New Delhi, also received a bomb threat via email. Police personnel, along with dog squad and fire brigade teams, conducted thorough checks at the site.
An employee at the building described the tense atmosphere following the alert. “We were working as usual when we were informed about the bomb threat. It created panic among everyone. When we stepped out, we saw police vehicles, the fire brigade, and dog squads deployed at the spot,” he said, adding that such threats create fear in workplaces where people expect to feel secure.
Earlier in the morning, four schools in the national capital also received similar bomb threat emails, triggering concern among parents and authorities. Police are investigating these incidents as well.
