Kandla (Gujarat): The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has achieved a new operational milestone by handling 40 ships within 24 hours, surpassing its previous record of 38 ships set in December 2023.
Announcing the achievement on X on Sunday, DPA Kandla hailed the feat as an “extraordinary display of efficiency and teamwork,” crediting its workforce for their operational excellence and seamless coordination.
“A historic milestone for DPA Kandla! In an extraordinary display of efficiency and teamwork, DPA has handled 40 ships in just 24 hours, surpassing its previous record of 38 ships set in December 2023. This achievement reflects our unmatched operational excellence, seamless coordination, and the relentless spirit of Team DPA,” the port authority posted.
The milestone comes amid a series of high-profile visits highlighting Kandla’s expanding global relevance. On November 13, a high-level British delegation—supported by GH2 India and led by British Deputy High Commissioner Stephen Thomas Hickling—reviewed progress at India’s first indigenous 1 MW green hydrogen plant located at the port.
The delegation praised Kandla’s rapid strides in clean-energy infrastructure, green port initiatives, and its emerging importance in India’s green hydrogen value chain. Officials noted that ongoing projects are positioning the port as a vital hub for national and global green fuel ambitions, attracting decarbonisation-focused investments.
In a separate visit, the New Zealand High Commission, accompanied by forestry and wood-processing industry leaders, assessed Kandla’s role as India’s leading EXIM gateway for timber. The delegation noted the port’s importance in supporting a major share of India’s timber supply chain and highlighted opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade.
These back-to-back engagements underscore DPA Kandla’s rising international profile as it pushes toward sustainable operations and contributes to India’s energy transition goals.
Earlier, on November 6, a delegation of European experts on certification and EU regulations—supported by the Green Hydrogen Association (GH2) India—visited the green hydrogen plant and were briefed on scale-up plans aimed at expanding the port’s green hydrogen capacity.
